Rock Oyster is a blend of Isles whiskeys from Scotland bottled by independent bottler Douglas Laing. A vatted malt made from Jura, Arran, Orkney and Islay whiskeys. Incidentally, a logical extension of the Douglas Laing range after the introduction of the vatted malts Big Peat (Islay), Scallywag (Speyside) and Timorous Beastie (Highlands).
The Rock Oyster is a small batch release with lots of maritime tones. Excellent with oysters and seafood, bottled at 46.8%. According to Douglas Laing's Managing Director Fred Laing, the Rock Oyster has everything that makes an Isles whiskey so distinctive. Aroma of soft peat smoke, vanilla, honey and salt.
Nose: salty oceans, fresh citrus notes and subtle peat smoke
Taste: subtle with soft peat aromas with smoke, honey, moist ash, licorice and later also pepper
