D.S. Tayman Glen Elgin 12yo Syrah Wine Barrel Finish (46%)

Single malt Scotch from Glen Elgin, distilled in September 2009 and matured for a dozen years, including a finish in a first-fill syrah (shiraz) red wine barrel. In January 2022, that cask was opened by independant bottler D.S. Tayman, releasing a total of 375 bottles.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Juicy pears and gristy barley open things up, with jammy pastries and heart wood spice.
Palate: Stewed cherries, chocolate raisins and baked apples mingle as peppery heat develops beneath.
Finish: Honeyed plums, sweet barley, and more fresh pear, with lingering drying oak and prickling spice.
