Glenmorangie - A Tale of the Forest (46%)

A Tale of the forest is Glenmorangie’s first whisky crafted from barley kilned with woodland botanicals.
At Glenmorangie, they have found there is a real connection to the forest in taste terms. There’s a little bit of background smoke in there, an incredible ethereal sharpness from the juniper, as well as some lavender and piney, floral notes which makes this limited edition whisky so unique.
Their master Distiller researched many different botanicals and in the end he chose birch bark, juniper berries and heather flowers. It was distilled in their towering copper stills and filled into a range of casks, including a higher proportion of refill casks than they would normally use, to make sure the aromatics would shine through.
Evoking the scents, sounds and sights of the forest, the single malt surrounds your senses with aromas of pine, juniper and coriander, laced with wisps of smoke. Then tastes of deep-green eucalyptus, lit by rays of bitter orange, drift to a slow, gently oaky finish.

Tasting Notes:
Aroma: Forest-like depth of taste and aroma, commencing with a bouquet of pine, juniper and coriander, along with roasted chestnut and an intriguing whisper of smoke.
Taste: Flavour explodes in the mouth. Whirls of peppermint. Bursts of eucalyptus. Rustles of bitter orange. All floating on clouds of vanilla with intriguing hints of black liquorice.
Finish: It concludes with a slow and luscious finish featuring lemon, orange and a soft hint of oak.
