Highland Park Valknut - Viking Legend Series (46,8%)

This Highland Park Valknut is the second release in their Viking Legend series and is made to celebrate the rich Nordic history and ancestry on the island of Orkney.
Valknut means "knot of those slain in battle" and the symbolon the bottle symbolizes the transition from earthly life to heavenly life, with "heavenly" being the key word when it comes to this special release.
To create this whisky, the people at Highland Park used a higher proportion of locally peated malt to create their spirit, and let it age in sherry seasoned European and American oaks casks, aswel as maturation in ex-bourbon casks.
As a result, Valknut has flavours of toasted vanilla, cracked black pepper, oak shavings, cloves, aniseed and an aromatic peat smoke. No additives were added to this whisky.
