James Eadie Blair Athol 12yo single malt whisky
This single cask of Blair Athol was distilled in 2004 and bottled in 2016 and is a definite crowd pleaser.
Blair Athol is situated on the outskirts of the tourist town of Pitlochry, and is an old stone building with a covering of ivy. Dating back to 1798, the distillery has been a major part of the Bell's blend since the days of Arthur Bell himself. A large distillery of delightful character, it has traditional larch washbacks. It is easily accessible from the central belt of Scotland for those without time to explore far into the Highlands. Coupled with a stop at the Edradour distillery a few miles away, it will show the contrasts of scotch whisky production. Edradour is Scotland's smallest distillery, being little more than a (delightful) farm, whilst Blair Athol lets you see the more typical, larger scale distillation.
