The story of San Pablo begins in 1945, when August Damian Jonckheer, under his company NV Handelsmaatschappij AD Jonckheer, started importing the rum to the Caribbean island of Curaçao. Originally from Cuba, the rum was made under the supervision of Señor Justo Gonzalez. To this day, Rum San Pablo is still made in the Jonckheer Factory on Curacao.
