The Arran 14 Years sits comfortably between the youthful freshness of the younger Arran expressions and the richer style of longer maturation. The whisky is matured mainly in bourbon casks with a smaller influence from Palo Cortado sherry casks, adding depth without losing Arran’s lively character.

One of Arran’s strengths is the subtle island character that remains present without leaning heavily into peat or smoke. Fresh fruit leads the profile, with apple, mandarin and soft citrus appearing immediately. Honey, malt and a gentle coastal salinity follow underneath.

On the palate, the whisky feels rich and creamy. Salted apple, toffee and tropical fruit gradually unfold, while the Palo Cortado casks contribute extra structure and gentle spice. The bourbon casks keep the profile open and smooth, preventing the whisky from becoming overly sherry-driven.

The finish lingers with soft oak, restrained sweetness and a delicate maritime edge that slowly fades.

Since returning to the core range, the 14 Years once again highlights what Arran does so well: combining fresh island character, bright fruit and carefully balanced cask influence without excess.
