Trinidad Distillers 8 year old Single Estate rum - Cane Island (43%)

This rum is shaped less by an unusual finish or heavy oak treatment and more by a classic Trinidad profile with solid ageing and an approachable style. It comes from Trinidad Distillers Ltd., is made from molasses, and is column distilled. It is then tropically matured for 8 years in former bourbon casks, giving it added roundness and a clear but measured oak influence.

In the glass, it shows a dark amber colour. On the nose and palate, ripe banana and oak stand out most clearly, supported by spicy wood notes and a subtle sweetness. That keeps the profile soft and balanced, with a smooth finish that does not become too heavy.

This bottling is part of Cane Island’s Single Estate range, where the country of origin and the distillery are meant to stay central. In this case, that results in a rum that clearly reflects Trinidad without relying on elaborate finishing or extra embellishment.
