ANNADALE DISTILLERY: A revival of Scottish tradition
Annandale Distillery is a historic Scottish whisky producer located in the Lowlands, close to the English border. The distillery was originally built in 1836 and grew into a prominent player in the whisky world. Annandale whisky was even used by Johnnie Walker as part of their blends. After its closure in 1918, the site remained unused for nearly a century until it was completely rebuilt and relaunched in 2014.
Today, Annandale manages to combine tradition with a modern vision. The distillery focuses on producing single malt whisky in small batches, where every cask plays a central role in the process. Notably, they produce both peated and unpeated styles, which was also historically typical of this location.
Annandale's best-known lines are Man O' Sword (peated) – powerful and smoky in character, and Man O' Words (non-peated) – elegant and fruity. Both whiskies refer to iconic Scottish figures: Robert the Bruce and Robert Burns. In this way, Annandale pays tribute to rich Scottish history and culture in a contemporary manner.
