The final chapter in Ardbeg's legendary Anthology series: an exceptional 15-year-old Islay single malt, matured in custom-made designer-charred bourbon casks—carefully air-dried, intensely toasted, and lightly charred. The whisky concept is inspired by the mythical Beithir, a serpentine creature from Celtic-Scottish folklore. This release marks the experiment, which concludes with a fantastic climax: "smooth and mysterious… with a smoky, menthol bite," according to master blender Gillian Macdonald.
In the meantime, The Beithir's Tale has already received prestigious awards: Spirit Gold Outstanding (98 points) at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2025, and gold at the International Spirits Challenge
Tasting Notes
Nose: Oily aromas of sweet syrup, smoky spices, and notes of toasted apples and raisins. A few drops of water reveal refreshing eucalyptus, menthol, fennel, and pine.
Palate: A refined, almost tingling mouthfeel leads to peat smoke, coffee grounds, and currants, followed by sweet lemon balm and smoky mandarin. The casks add a creamy, toffee warmth that pairs beautifully with Ardbeg's signature smokiness.
Finish: Long, smooth and inviting – with notes of vanilla and smoked butter that linger.
