Berry Bros & Rudd Reunion Rum (65%)

This single cask rum from Savanna shows just how well a powerful distillate can work with a wine cask finish. Distilled in 2016 on Réunion and bottled in 2023 by Berry Bros. & Rudd for Kirsch Import Germany, it is based on column-distilled molasses rum and given extra depth through finishing in a red wine cask. It was released at natural cask strength of 65%, without chill filtration or added colouring, in a limited outturn.

In the glass, it opens with soft smoke, vanilla and a clear red wine accent, followed by cinnamon, fennel, herbal notes and ripe berry fruit. The palate moves into a fuller, earthier direction with raspberry, blackberry jam, spice and warm oak. That wine cask finish does more than add fruit; it also brings a drier, darker layer that suits Savanna’s assertive style beautifully. The result is a rum with real intensity, strong structure and a profile that stays firmly present from start to finish.
