The Mortlach 2009 is a special whisky. The influence of the Barbados rum barrels is noticeable on this 'Beast of Dufftown'. The mouthfeel is characteristically heavy, but the scents of pineapple, papaya and overripe bananas leave a fresher impression.
This Glenburgie 2011 is a delicious whisky, of course mainly due to the maturation in PX Sherry casks. The dark color betrays everything, which confirms the nose. Decadent sweetness followed by roasted (pecan) nuts, topped with cane sugar syrup.
