The Kanosuke Double Distillery brings together two spirits produced by the Komasa family in Kagoshima. This Japanese blended whisky combines Kanosuke Single Malt from the Kanosuke Distillery with Hioki Pot Still whisky produced at the nearby Hioki Distillery.
The idea behind the blend is to unite the strengths of both styles. The single malt contributes the elegant sweetness typical of Kanosuke whisky, while the Hioki pot still whisky adds depth and spice. Carefully blending these two distillates results in a balanced whisky where finesse and intensity complement each other.
The whisky also reflects the collaboration between brothers Yoshitsugu Komasa, who oversees whisky production at Kanosuke Distillery, and Norihisa Komasa, who continues to develop the distillation techniques at Hioki Distillery.
On the nose the whisky shows aromas of apricot, melon and yellow peach with hints of vanilla, lemongrass and mint. The palate reveals rich sweetness with flavours of mandarin, black tea and clove alongside touches of Japanese cinnamon. The finish is fruity with light oak and a gentle bittersweet note.
