The Sakurao Distillery in Hiroshima is known for elegant whisky with a refined Japanese character. This Sakurao Peated Sauternes Cask perfectly showcases their style. Made from lightly peated malt, it was first matured in bourbon barrels and then finished for 18 months in French Sauternes wine casks. Sauternes is one of Bordeaux’s famous dessert wines, and its influence shines through in rich notes of honey, ripe fruit and creamy sweetness. The peat smoke remains subtle, adding depth without overpowering the delicate sweetness.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Soft honey and apricot at first, followed by vanilla, peach and floral accents. A gentle touch of smoke sits underneath, adding structure without taking over.
Palate: Creamy and full-bodied. Custard, toffee and ripe peach unfold alongside candied citrus and light spice. The peat feels warm and refined rather than sharp, balancing the sweeter elements.
