The Savanna Rhum Millésime 1999 Decanter is one of the most prestigious bottlings ever released by Distillerie Savanna on Réunion. This luxury decanter was created as a tribute to the exceptional quality of the 1999 harvest and distillation and belongs to the absolute top of the Savanna range. Only 2,000 individually numbered decanters were produced. The rum is derived from molasses and was distilled in 1999. It subsequently matured for 15 years in a fully tropical environment on Réunion in a combination of new French oak barrels and former Cognac barrels. This combination imparts both powerful woody influences and the elegant fruitiness for which Savanna is known.
TASTING NOTES
The nose immediately reveals rich aromas of leather, old oak, vanilla, cinnamon, clove, and a hint of Havana cigars. Behind these, dried figs, candied fruit, and subtle notes of cocoa and ginger develop. The taste is full and silky smooth, with layers of vanilla, ripe figs, dark chocolate, roasted spices, and an elegant woody note that remains perfectly balanced with the fruit. The long finish allows cocoa, warm spices, and a refined touch of ginger to slowly fade away.
