Spirited Union L.E. Venezuela XO Pottstill (43%)

This release is part of the Exclusive Rum Cask Series by Spirited Union. Within this range the distillery selects distinctive casks from specific rum origins and bottles them in limited quantities to highlight unique production styles.

For this edition a rum from Venezuela was selected and distilled in a pot still, which is unusual for the country where column still distillation is far more common. Pot still distillation typically produces a richer and more aromatic style of rum.

After distillation the rum matured for three years in ex-bourbon casks in Venezuela’s tropical climate. The cask was later transported to Amsterdam where it continued ageing for around two additional years in the Spirited Union distillery cellars. This combination of tropical and continental maturation contributes to its balanced and layered character.

The nose reveals notes of caramel, vanilla and dried fruit with hints of toasted oak and gentle spice. On the palate it is smooth and rounded with flavours of toffee, cocoa and subtle spices. The finish is warm with lingering oak and a touch of sweetness.
