One of the two first releases of a double-matured product, 100% aged at the distillery. Distilled in 2010, this rum was aged in once used, American White Oak Ex-Bourbon casks for 8 years. This was followed by 2 years in an Ex-Madeira casks for added depth and complexity and bottled at 45% alc./vol.
TASTING NOTES:
Dark brown with a tinge of orange, this rum is very pleasing in glass. Sweet caramel, a hint of vanilla and few lingering spices and oak awaits you on the nose and its somehow very warming and comforting. Sipping on this rum, you are initially met with a natural sweetness with those caramel and hint of vanilla getting mixed with a slight edge from the spicy notes. These spicy notes provide a little burn which carries through to the finish. As one continues savoring this rum, a more tropical fruit sweetness interplays with these spicy notes and at the finish, a more acidic begins to creep in, leaving a slight bitterness at the end.
