Bacardi Carta Blanca is a crystal clear rum with a subtle, dry taste.

In 1862, in a small distillery in the port city of Santiago de Cuba, Don Facundo Bacardi created a smooth, flavourful rum and gave it its own name: Bacardi. Since then, the brand has grown to become the largest spirits brand in the world.

The preparation process that Don Facundo Bacardi developed for Bacardi in 1862 is unchanged. He was the first to use charcoal as a 'filter' to make the rum pure and full of flavour. Rum is made from the lower part of the sugarcane stem. Chopping and rolling the cane produces a dark syrup. The syrup is then centrifuged to separate the sugar crystals. What remains is pure molasses, the basis of rum. This substance determines the final quality. To the molasses, Bacardi's special yeast is added, which transforms the sugars into alcohol. After the distillation process, the rum is completely pure. Only the best white American oak is selected and used in the manufacture of the hand-made oak barrels. The barrels are then charred on the inside - by means of a charcoal fire - to ensure that the rum is continuously purified. The temperature, humidity and even the sea breeze the barrels are exposed to, influence the character and quality of Bacardi Rum. Both before and after maturation Bacardi Carta Blanca is filtered over charcoal. It is then the job of the 'master blender' to blend rums from different barrels and years until the taste and aroma meet the required quality standards. For Bacardi Carta Blanca the rum has been aged for a minimum of one year.

Bacardi Carta Blanca is the base for the world's most famous and most widely consumed long drink: the Bacardi & Cola, or Cuba Libre. A real Bacardi & Cola is made in a long drink glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes, pour in 35ml Bacardi Carta Blanca, and top it off with Cola. Garnish the glass with a wedge of lime, and serve the glass with a stirrer.
