This Benrinnes 2009, selected for the Dutch Friends of Berry Bros & Rudd, presents a more structured and deeper side of the distillery. Initial maturation in a hogshead is followed by a finish in a Pedro Ximénez brandy cask, giving the profile added density.

The nose immediately leans darker and more concentrated, with raisins, figs and syrupy sweetness, alongside cocoa and a subtle lift of apple keeping it balanced. The cask influence is clear but controlled.

On the palate, the focus shifts to texture and tension. Dried fruit and spice are supported by notes of nut cake and a faint leathery edge, while the oak provides structure without dominating. The profile remains cohesive throughout.

The finish is long and layered, with espresso, spiced oak and a drying edge that adds depth and persistence.
