Papalin Haiti 6YO Sherry Cask is a vatting of three Haitian pot still rums, fully aged in the tropics and drawn from a total of seven ex-sherry casks. That gives the bottling a darker, richer profile than you often find in younger island rums, while still preserving its distinctly Haitian character. The sherry casks bring extra depth, roundness and a clear fruit-led accent, while the pot still base provides the weight and character needed to carry it. It was bottled in September 2023 at 54.1%.
In the glass, it opens with ripe apricot, dark cherry and orange, followed by salted caramel, dark chocolate and warming spice. The interplay between the sherry casks and the Haitian pot still rum gives it a profile that feels generous yet well held together. The fruit leans darker and riper, while chocolate, spice and a lightly waxy note add another layer of depth. The result is a rum with real flavour, a warm presence and a style that feels both generous and carefully built.
