Cane and Grain Craigellachie 2014 (60,1%)

This Craigellachie 2014 by Cane & Grain is a single cask bottling for the Benelux that highlights the more outspoken side of the distillery. With its higher strength and relatively young age, the focus is on energy, character and direct expression.

In the glass, it shows a lively and slightly rugged nose, with ripe apple, citrus and honey, supported by a lightly spicy and subtly oily undertone typical of Craigellachie. It carries a slightly unpolished edge that adds interest.

On the palate, it arrives with power but remains balanced. Fruity notes are joined by malt, spice and a touch of minerality, while the higher strength brings intensity and length. A few drops of water help open it up and reveal more nuance.

The finish is long and warming, with lingering spice, a gentle dryness and a lightly earthy note.
