Indri Agneya is a lightly peated single malt whisky from the Indian state of Haryana, produced by Piccadilly Distilleries. The name Agneya is derived from Sanskrit and literally means "belonging to fire," a reference to the interplay between peat smoke, wood influence, and the warm Indian climate in which this whisky matures. The whisky is distilled from Indian barley in copper pot stills and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. On the nose, soft smoky notes combine with chocolate, vanilla, dried apple, and apricot. These are followed by fruity accents of jam and subtle earthy notes that provide extra depth. The peat remains refined and never overpowers.
