Botran Ki’ shows a softer, more fruit-driven side of the house. Made from virgin sugar cane honey, it is matured in Guatemala at altitude through Botran’s dynamic ageing, a solera-inspired approach in which different casks each contribute their own layer. For Ki’, the rum is developed in ex-American whiskey casks, medium toast whiskey casks and ex-Oloroso sherry casks, before receiving a finishing period in Muscatel barrels. That final stage gives the rum its gentler, rounder feel and a brighter fruit note that lifts it beyond the vanilla and oak at its core.
In the glass, it opens with honey, caramel and vanilla, followed by candied red fruit, a touch of orange and softly toasted oak. The Muscatel finish adds extra softness and a lightly floral, fruit-led glow, while the cask influence keeps the profile composed and polished. That balance makes it especially appealing: supple and approachable, yet still layered enough to hold attention. It is a Botran shaped more by finesse than weight, with fruit, honey and oak working together in a very graceful way.
