Patridom XO Islay Cask Finish (44%)

This release from Patridom is based on the Patridom XO and was produced in the Dominican Republic at Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos. After its initial maturation, the rum underwent a secondary ageing in ex-Islay whisky casks, giving it a distinct character within the range.

Distilled in column stills, the rum is first aged tropically in American and French oak casks. It is then finished in ex-Islay casks, adding subtle smoky and slightly medicinal notes without overpowering the base.

On the nose, soft vanilla and oak are combined with a light smokiness in the background. The palate is full and rounded, where fruity and slightly sweet notes meet hints of smoke, wood and gentle spice. The finish is lingering and slightly dry with a subtle smoky edge.
