This extraordinary vintage was introduced on the occasion of Maison Ferrand's 20th anniversary. A blend of fine rums aged 12 to 20 years, all sourced from Barbados, a beautiful reflection of the island itself.
Like the other rums in the Plantation range, this exotic spirit is first matured in its country of origin, Barbados, to then benefit from further maturation and care in Cognac. Resting in casks originally used for Pierre Ferrand cognac, and meticulously cared for by the Cellar Master of Maison Ferrand, a unique expression is achieved using traditional local methods.
TASTE PROFILE
The stunning floral/fruity opening aroma is transcendent, ethereal, and intensely marshmallow-like; after a few minutes in the tasting glass, additional scents of vanilla, cocoa, and milk chocolate are released. The initial taste is cinnamon-like and softly sweet, while the sugary molasses flavor becomes very soft and chewy; the mid-palate profile reminds me of spice cake, rum-flavored chocolate, and sugar cookies. The finish is medium-long, delicate, and only slightly sweet.

Fermentation: 3 to 5 days
Distillation: Pot still & column
Tropical aging: 8 to 10 years. The rums used for XO are selected for their structure with aromatic characteristics suitable for intensive aging in oak.
Continental aging: 2 to 10 years. This is a blend of very old rums from Barbados finished in new white oak to bourbon barrels and cognac barrels, each with a different level of toasting.
