This single cask rum was distilled in 2005 at C.A.D.C. (Corporación Alcoholes del Caribe) in Venezuela, a distillery known for producing molasses-based rum that is often supplied to independent bottlers.
The bottling is part of the Quarterdeck range by Duncan Taylor, a series focused on individual casks selected for their distinctive character. After distillation the rum matured for sixteen years in oak casks before being bottled in February 2022.
The nose reveals aromas of caramel, vanilla and toasted oak, supported by notes of raisins, cocoa and gentle spices. Hints of dried fruit and a light touch of tobacco add additional depth.
On the palate the rum is rich and robust, delivering flavours of toffee, dark chocolate and brown sugar. The oak influence brings structure with touches of spice and roasted nuts. The finish is long and warming with lingering wood, cocoa and subtle fruity sweetness.
A bold single cask release suited for those who enjoy mature, oak-driven rum.
