Long Pond 2001 – 24 Years Old is an impressive Jamaican rum from the historic Long Pond Distillery in Trelawny. This distillery is known for its distinctive pot still rums with the characteristic Jamaican "funk" profile, shaped by long fermentations and traditional double retort stills. After 24 years of aging, this rum has developed exceptional depth, where fruit, spices, and wood influences blend beautifully. This special bottling was distilled in 2001 in the Blair twin-column still. This still was severely damaged around 2009 and is no longer in use. Consequently, current production of Long Pond rum takes place exclusively in pot stills.
In the glass, aromas of overripe pineapple, banana, orange peel, and dried tropical fruit unfold, followed by notes of vanilla, oak, spices, and a subtle earthy touch. The long aging adds extra layers of cocoa, roasted nuts, and soft tannins, while the distinctive Long Pond character remains clearly present.
