Savanna La Réunion 2003 – 23 Years Old is an exceptionally old rum from the renowned Savanna Distillery on the French island of La Réunion. The distillery is known for its versatile production and its ability to create both traditional and highly aromatic rum styles. After 23 years of aging, this bottling has developed an impressive complexity, in which tropical fruit, spices, and wood influences come together harmoniously.
The long aging creates a rich and layered aroma. Scents of candied pineapple, dried apricots, orange peel, and other exotic fruits open the profile, followed by notes of vanilla, cocoa, and toasted oak. Next, nuances of coffee, nuts, and soft spices emerge, adding extra depth and refinement.
On the palate, this rum displays a beautiful balance between fruity vibrancy and ripe elegance. Flavors of tropical fruit, honey, cocoa, and spices are supported by refined woody notes and a subtle mineral touch, characteristic of some aged Savannah rums. The finish is long, complex, and harmonious, with persistent notes of dried fruit, chocolate, spices, and polished oak.
