An exceptionally old Demerara rum from Guyana, sourced from the legendary Uitvlugt Distillery. Distilled in 1997, just a few years before the distillery closed its doors, and bottled after 29 years of aging, this rum represents a rare piece of Guyanese rum history. Uitvlugt was known for its powerful and elegant rums, in which fruit, spices, and wood influences come together in a style typical of the Demerara region. Through nearly three decades of aging, this bottling has developed an impressive flavor profile. Aromas of raisins, dried figs, orange peel, and dark caramel are followed by notes of cocoa, coffee, polished oak, and warm spices.
