Clairin Vieux Sajous 5YO 2018 (57.5%) is an impressive aged Haitian clairin, bottled by Velier. Distilled in 2018 from sugarcane juice, it was then aged for five years in Haiti, adding depth and complexity while keeping the unmistakable character of traditional clairin intact.
On the nose, it opens fresh and elegant, with notes of cane, tropical fruit and floral touches. Beneath that come gentle layers of spice, along with hints of honey, vanilla and soft warm seasoning. The palate is lively and powerful, combining sweet sugarcane juice, fruit, spice and a slightly earthy edge. The finish is long and warming, with lingering vanilla, spice and subtle oak influence.
