Mount Gay PX Sherry Cask Rum (45%)

The Mount Gay PX Sherry Cask Expression is the sixth release in the exclusive Master Blender Collection and is one of the oldest and most complex rums Mount Gay has ever released. Master Blender Trudian Branker carefully selected a number of the oldest casks from the warehouses in Barbados and explored how this long-aged rum would develop with a finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Jerez, Spain. The result is an impressive limited edition in which the elegant style of Mount Gay is enriched with the deep, luscious influence of PX sherry.
The base consists of a blend of pot still and column still rum that matured tropically for 20 years in former American whiskey barrels on Barbados. Subsequently, the rum underwent a further year of aging in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, creating additional layers of dried fruit, dark cherries, and roasted nuts. The rum is non-chill filtered, without additives, and bottled at 45% ABV. Only 4,200 bottles are available worldwide.
TASTING NOTES
The aroma opens rich and inviting with maraschino cherries, stewed red fruit, butterscotch, toasted oak, and subtle notes of raisins and plums. On the palate, salted caramel, ripe banana, vanilla, dark chocolate, and soft spices follow. The influence of the PX casks gives the rum a velvety texture and a beautiful round sweetness, without losing Mount Gay's distinctive dry, spicy character. The long finish lingers with oak, candied fruit, cocoa, and warming spices.

This special bottling demonstrates how excellently long-term tropical-aged Barbados rum pairs with a carefully balanced PX finish. An exceptional release for lovers of aged rum and sherry cask aging.
