Naga Shani PX Cask (46%)

Naga Shani is an Indonesian rum that spends ten years ageing in oak before receiving an additional maturation in former Pedro Ximénez casks. That second stage gives the bottling its deeper, fuller style, with greater emphasis on dried fruit, raisins, nuts and a softer, richer sweetness. Beneath that, the rum still rests on oak, spice and a warm, rounded structure, which gives it generosity without taking away its poise.

In the glass, it opens with dried fruit, honey and raisins, followed by vanilla, blond tobacco, walnuts and a fine thread of spice. The PX casks leave a clear mark here, not only through darker and sweeter notes, but also by giving the rum more depth and a velvety finish in which oak and spice remain gently in place. The result is a warm, layered style that feels rich and composed from start to finish
